What's happening to the Santa Fe Art Colony?
As many of you know, the SFAC Tenants Association is fighting to save the historic Santa Fe Art Colony - a vital live/work artists’ community in downtown Los Angeles. Longtime rent restrictions are about to expire, and new owner, Miami-based developer Fifteen Group, has announced plants to double the rents on November 1, 2019, effectively evicting the artists. The Tenants Association has made a purchase offer - a right provided by California’s Affordable Housing Preservation Law - to keep rents affordable and preserve this important cultural asset for current and future artists. Unfortunately, Fifteen Group has not engaged regarding the purchase offer.
We need your help today to contact our City Council and ask them to support our bid and retain the affordable live/works spaces for future generations of artists. You can do this by signing our Change.org SFAC Tenants Association petition, writing a letter to City Officials and posting on social media using "#saveSFAC". Download the template letter to City Officials and learn how you can continue to support our efforts to #saveSFAC at http://www.santafeartcolony.org/advocacy. Thank you for your consideration.
